5 Zoë Kravitz style moments we can’t stop thinking about

The daughter of Lisa Bonet and music legend Lenny Kravitz, actress Zoë Kravitz has become a major star in her own right thanks to her roles in critically acclaimed series and films like Big Little Lies,  High Fidelity, and The Batman. In addition to her impressive on-screen resume, the 30-something actress has also blossomed into an absolute style maven. From her eye-catching street style to glamorous red carpet looks, here are five Zoë Kravitz style moments we can’t stop thinking about.

In October 2020, the actress was spotted on the set of Matt Reeves’ The Batman. She starred—alongside Robert Pattinson as Batman—in the dark and gritty superhero movie firstly as Selina Kyle and then as the enigmatic Catwoman. Her style in the film is an expression of her character’s complexity, sleek and sexy yet almost restrained, like a ticking time bomb. Her leather trench with matching lace-up boots and fascinator is a thing of dreams, and perfectly encapsulates Selina’s mystique as we see her develop through the film.

Turning heads in an Elsa Peretti 18-carat gold mesh bra and black maxi skirt by Saint Laurent to the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the actress showed off her incredibly toned body in an outfit we still talk about to this day. The pièce de résistance is obviously the gold bra, which is part of Elsa Peretti’s Tiffany & Co. collection and worth a whopping $24,000. Still, the star didn’t hold back when it comes to accessorising this—literally—golden fashion moment: she sported five platinum bracelets with diamonds and three eye-catching platinum and diamond rings.

Alongside The Batman, Hulu’s romantic comedy series High Fidelity is hands down Zoë’s most fashionable role to date and, albeit its premature cancellation after only one season, it’s provided us with enough fashion moments for a lifetime.

Kravitz’s character, record store owner Robyn “Rob” Brooks, has mastered the laid-back cool girl style, as exemplified by this look. From Vans sneakers to Gucci loafers, as well as band tees, Hawaiian shirts, and gingham dresses, Rob’s style is a masterclass not only in texture, but also in high/low contrast dressing.

Given how much of Rob’s laid-back yet impeccable style is so reminiscent of Zoë’s, and the fact that the actress is also one of the executive producers of High Fidelity, it’s unsurprising that many pieces that she wore on the show were actually pulled from her personal wardrobe.

Zoë Kravitz’s street style is always top-tier—even when she’s not playing Rob Brooks. The actress favours minimal and contemporary silhouettes—it’s no surprise that she’s a big fan of The Row—and she wears them with incomparable ease. This look comprised of a tank top, a sporty slip skirt, black flip-flops, and a mini Telfar tote bag is absolute perfection in its simplicity.

This simplicity is exactly the key to her showstopping style, no matter what she’s wearing or where she is going. Her looks are never over-the-top or fussy, they simply exude ease. The unusual colour combination—royal blue, dark grey, and loden green—takes her outfit from basic to refined.

It’s no secret that Zoë Kravitz is partial to a bejewelled bra moment. For the 2021 Met Gala titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, Kravitz partnered with Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello to create a bold crystal mesh lingerie set, inspired by a mesh bralette the star wore for Saint Laurent’s SS20 campaign. The look is admittedly risqué—in fact, it was met not without criticism—but the star knew exactly how to elevate it even further. She discussed with Vaccarello, who agreed that some pieces from her jeweller friend Jessica McCormack would be the perfect finishing touch. Classic with a contemporary twist, McCormack’s pieces are among Zoë’s faves: she said to British Vogue, “Once I put something on, I just could leave it on. I love that Jessica creates these special, unique pieces that look great with a gown, but also a T-shirt. That’s totally my vibe.”
