Fashion moments from Cannes 2023 we can’t stop thinking about

It’s one of the “Big 3”  film festivals in Europe – held every year, the Cannes Film Festival is a spectacular event that previews some of the most anticipated international films and documentaries. The most prestigious award for best film, the Palme d’Or, has been given to now legendary films like Triangle of Sadness, Blue is the Warmest Color, Pulp Fiction, and The Pianist. The festival is also responsible for launching directors like Ruben Östlund, Bong Joon-ho, and Quentin Tarantino into the international spotlight.

The prestigious event, not to mention the beautiful location in Cannes, France – attracts some of the biggest international stars. And of course they come dressed to the nines.

The looks are always stunning and glamorous, it’s difficult to keep a short list of the Cannes best dressed. But this year, we wanted to have a more up close and personal look at what the stars wore on the red carpet. Some might say the magic is in the details – and we couldn’t agree more! Here are some of our favorite fashion details from both men and women at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. 

Uma Thurman made her red carpet appearance in a gorgeous pink Dior haute couture gown – but what we couldn’t take our eyes off of was her bejeweled Chopard choker necklace encrusted with diamonds and rubies.

It belongs to the exclusive Chopard Red Carpet collection of “mega jewels” and Thurman wasn’t the only star to wear jewelry from the collection. This year, sixteen other pieces from the collection were worn at Cannes – with Naomi Campbell also being among the lucky Chopard wearers.

Daughter of famous actor, Jude Law, Iris Law is making waves in her own way and is becoming known for her edgy, cool looks on the red carpet. The model was turning heads in this beautiful sheer top by Saint Laurent, which she tucked into a sheer skirt and paired with a thin set of gold hoops and black leather gloves.

Sheer is quickly becoming one of the biggest trends of 2023 – we saw it everywhere at the Met Gala after parties earlier this year and it’s continuing to gain momentum. From dresses, to tops, to skirts – wearing see-through clothes is no longer a fashion faux pas.

This lawyer turned global fashion influencer shows how men’s fashion is done on the red carpet. While a tailored black suit and tie can go a long way – it’s always refreshing and exciting when we see stars step outside the box and showcase their own individual style.

Rahi Chadda wore a stunning red suit from Homolog,  encrusted with jewels along with a beautiful necklace from Fred jewelry.

This year, actress Brie Larson is serving on the jury for the festival and attended the premiere of the headlining film Jeanne du Barry wearing a beautiful Chanel ensemble. Brie’s outfit was a stunning compilation of silver and gold – metallic is definitely in this year and we can see why.

Manu Rios stars in the short film, A Strange Way of Life, alongside Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke. The film was commissed by Saint Laurent Productions so you can expect that the costume wardrobe will be on point.

But the Spanish actor/model proved that he also has impeccable style on the red carpet.  Men’s necklaces are clearly having a moment – in fact, Manu wore two necklaces at Cannes, each complimenting his outfit beautifully. Honestly, we love a guy that knows how to accessorize.

Emily Schüle is a newcomer that we’ve got our eye on. The German actress attended last year’s Film Festival along with the Venice Film Festival and has been aceing her red carpet looks.

This time we saw her in a gorgeous green and black Gucci gown with harness details that added some extra drama to her look. She also debuted a new mullet haircut, which was styled perfectly with the edgy dress.

Helen Mirren is an icon on the stage and on the screen – and she proved her legendary status even more when she debuted bright blue hair that matched perfectly to her blue Del Core gown – she even matched her manicure as well!

Viola Davis never ceases to stun on the red carpet and this look was no exception. She wore a beautiful Valentino gown that was covered in ostrich feathers. It was giving drama and elegance and and we were inspired. While we may not be able to pull offa full feathered cape like Viola can – we can definitely imagine adding some feather accents and details to our dresses, tops, and even pants!
