The neo-goth aesthetic is trending — here’s how to wear it

The Netflix series “Wednesday” premiered on the streaming service late last month and, according to Variety, has become the third Netflix title to cross one billion hours viewed within one month (only surpassed by “Squid Game” and “Stranger Things” season four).

The Tim Burton “Addams Family” offshoot stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, a smart, sarcastic, and “a little dead inside” teen who investigates a murder spree at Nevermore Academy. With the new season scheduled to be released in early September – what better time to get your goth on?

While not intentional (at least, we don’t think it was), the show’s gothic style goes hand-in-hand with this season’s buzziest trend: the neo-goth aesthetic.

Comprised of intricate lace dresses and blouses, black leather pieces and suggestive fishnet stockings, this aesthetic is moody and romantic — so here’s how to style it.

Beautifully illustrated in the spring/summer 2023 collections of Dior and Dolce & Gabbana, the neo-goth hashtag has already amassed more than 150,000 views on TikTok (at the time of publication).
