Turns out we’ve been applying our foundation all wrong
Guilty of going on autopilot during your morning make-up routine? It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with your beauty look, with those same techniques you’ve been using ever since teen mags told you that purple eyeshadow was a legit beauty choice. So we thought we’d give you a refresher course in some of the basics.
According to pro make-up artists like Charlotte Tilbury and Hannah Murray, applying foundation to every inch of your face is a big no no… Who knew? The objective is to even out the skin tone and not apply an opaque mass to your face. If it’s too much, you will look like a clown and if it’s too little, you will look unpolished.
Instead, use a flat brush to apply dots of foundation to the cheeks, forehead, chin and tip of your nose before gently blending them together. Don’t apply to your neck, but just under the jawline, and make sure that there are no obvious lines near your hair too.
