5 Things A Pair Of Shoes Should Do For You

How many times have you bought a pair of shoes and later wished that you hadn’t? They were either too small, went with nothing in your wardrobe, or weren’t what you pictured they’d be once they were delivered.

While we dream of having all the shoes our feet could fathom, buyer’s remorse is a real nightmare for any shopping fanatic. Never return another pair by making sure they fulfill all of the following criteria:

1. They should fit.

Seems obvious, doesn’t it? Yet an alarming number of people are wearing shoes that are too small or big, and you might be one of them. Contrary to popular belief, feet aren’t a one-shoe-size fits all deal. Different types of shoes will fit your feet differently, so make sure to measure your feet a few times a year.

2. They should be practical.

No matter how much we wish we were, we are not Beyoncé. And the 10-inch stilettos we see her wearing when she hops out of her chauffeured car would be problematic if we tried to wear them on the subway. Your shoes should serve your purpose and lifestyle, and being a superstar isn’t it (not yet, at least).

3. They should complement your closet.

Those technicolor trainers seem like a good idea until you realized you have nothing to wear with them. If you’re a glass-half-full kind of person, that means it’s time to go shopping. Otherwise, pick out pairs with outfits that you already own in mind. You’ll save money and time.

4. They should be comfortable.

Beauty is pain, but that doesn’t mean callouses can’t be completely avoided. Wear shoes that won’t rub you the wrong way. If the ones you bought already do, insert gel cushions inside all the problem areas.

5. They should make you feel good.

They don’t have to be ballet flats to make you want to move. Whether they’re boat shoes or boots, have happy feet in a pair that will put a pep in your step.

Make every pair of shoes that you buy your favorite ones. You and your feet deserve it.
