Hello Upper East Siders, there’s a new aesthetic in town and it’s the Plaza Princess. Described on TikTok as a grown up “Eloise at the Plaza ” meets Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl, this aesthetic features items like blouses and dresses with Peter Pan collars, headbands, and Mary Janes (worn with socks of course). The trend is being labeled as the perfect fall look, since it’s often about layering and combining wardrobe staples. But what gives it the Plaza Princess name is the more preppy, feminine, and playful way these items are styled – often adding in pearl and crystal embellished accessories, bows, and other “plaza-esque” prints and fabrics. Some key wearers of the trend are Aimee Lou Woods of Sex Education fame and actress Lucy Boynton. On Stylight, we’ve seen an increase on the following Plaza Princess pieces:
- Mary Janes: increase in clicks by 49%
- Headbands: increase in clicks by 69%
- Blouses with bows: increase in clicks by 78%
- Blouses with Peter Pan collars: increase in clicks by 122%
- Checkered skirts: increase in clicks by 89%
- Loafers: increase in clicks by 35%
