5 of the hottest trends for Summer 2024

After months of dreariness, the summer of 2024 is finally upon us, and with it a host of trends that promise to excite fashion lovers. We’ve analyzed the buying behavior of our 90 million annual visitors to Stylight, as well as Google searches, to highlight the five must-have trends for this summer.

1. Striped shorts

While we’ve already discussed three-stripe shorts as one of the season’s major shorts trends, striped cotton shorts are also making a strong comeback this year. Almost similar to boxer shorts or pajama bottoms, the striped trousers were already present last year and adopted by fashionistas and influencers with sharp looks, they seem to be gaining more and more fans this year: we noted a 14.5% spike in demand on Stylight in May/June 2024, compared to the same period last year.

2. Fisherman sandals

Comfort is king this summer with fisherman sandals. These practical, stylish shoes combine functionality and elegance. Available in natural leather or colorful synthetic materials (hello jellyfish of our youth!),fisherman sandals are among the most sought-after open-toe shoes of summer 2024, with a 276% increase in clicks.

3. Fruit-mania

It looks like fruit is in season! Fruit-themed fashion has been having a moment in 2024 – from graphic tees with assorted fruits, to cherry jewelry, to strawberry-themed bags, to tops embroidered with lemons. Google searches for fashion items with cherries have increased by 26%, as well as a 25% increase in searches for fashion items with strawberries, and an 8% increase in searches for lemon-inspired looks.

4. Tops with ties – breakout trend!

Who doesn’t remember the Ganni white blouse, with the cute front ties? Tops and blouses with ties are one of this season’s big trends. This subtle detail adds a feminine, elegant touch to any outfit, which fits in perfectly with the #coquettecore trend and gives us a romantic Bridgerton vibe that we can’t help but love. Google searches have soared in recent weeks, and the same trend can also be found on Stylight.

5. Square-toe heels

Last summer we saw our fair share of rounded ballet slippers and pointed kitten heels. But in 2024 we’re adding a new shape to the mix – square toe heels! There is plenty of variety out there – mules, heeled sandals, or even boots. Google searches for this piece of footwear have increased by 15% compared to last year.
