8 must-have party trends for the holiday season

December is here! And that means that the holiday parties are almost in full swing – whether it’s a family gathering, a work party, a New Year’s Eve bash, or just a night out on the town with friends, ’tis the season to get dressed in our most festive outfits. We analyzed the shopping behavior of our 120M yearly users as well as trends in Google searches to find out what will be the biggest fashion trends of the party season. From accessories to the shiniest fashion items, here are 8 must-have fashion trends to party into 2024! 

1. Faux fur

If you’re looking for something luxe that won’t break the bank – the faux fur trend is perfect for you! This year we’re seeing everything from jackets to coats and even hats in faux fur – it’s the perfect item to take your festive outfit to the next level. On Stylight we’ve seen a 41% increase in demand for faux fur fashion items.

2. Statement earrings

One of the must-have accessories this festive season is going to be statement earrings. Think, “the bigger, the better”. We’re seeing big, bold looks in silver and gold – and on Stylight demand for these XXL jewelry styles has grown by 10%. 

3. Red tights

There’s no doubt that red is THE color of the year – and it’s still going strong as we move into 2024. We’ve seen red bags and shoes – so now it’s time for red tights! They’re an unexpected trend, but they fit so perfectly to the holiday season. On Stylight, demand has increased by 77%! 

4. Lace tops

Lace tops were a big thing this FallWinter season and it looks like they will be big for Christmas and New Year’s Eve as well. Lace tops are an easy and elegant way to dress up and outfit – so it’s no wonder that we’ve seen a 45% increase in demand for them on Stylight.

5. Silver knee-high boots

Silver is to be expected when it comes to festive looks – and this year of the must-have trends are silver knee-high boots! Paired perfectly with a mini skirt or dress – this sparkly pair of footwear will add some extra drama to your holiday outfit. Google searches have increased by 43%, so get ready to see these glittery boots everywhere!

6. Sequins

Sequins, sequins everywhere. At least that’s what it feels like this time of year. One of the must-have trends this year is (not surprisingly) sequins, especially sequin tops. On Stylight, we’ve seen a 20% increase for shiny, sparkly sequin tops. So if you want to really light up the room with your look, this trend is the one for you!

7. Silver maxi skirt

Metallic tones, especially silver are going to be really big this holiday season – the color seems to be really big this year for maxi skirts. We’re seeing shimmery, silver maxi skirts paired with silk tops and blazers, giving a really sophisiticated and elegant vibe. On Google, searches for silver maxi skirts have increased by 82%!

8. Bows

Another trend that we’ve seen continue it’s upward trajectory – bows. Not only have we seen bows decorating hairstyles, they are now adorning dresses, tops, bags, and shoes. This trend fits perfect to the holiday season and we expect that it will continue to trend into the New Year as well. On Google, searches for bows (in relation to fashion topics) have increased by 56%!
