Eclectic Grandpa: the comfy and eccentric aesthetic of 2024

It’s the latest aesthetic to take over the fashion scene – the Eclectic Grandpa. Originally coined by the annual Pinterest Predicts report, the aesthetic is forecasted to be big in 2024. But what exactly is the Eclectic Grandpa? We can expect retro looks and silhouettes and grandpa-style staples with a touch of eccentric elements.

In 2024 we are embracing our comfy eras – pushing aside skin-tight, bodycon style and opting for more loose-fitting, oversized looks. The Eclectic Grandpa aesthetic is all about retro silhouettes and unique patterns and color combinations. On Stylight we’ve seen an a spike in demand for oversized sweaters (the funkier the better) – increasing by 146% on Stylight in the past two months. We’ve also seen a 182% increase for knitted beanies and a 29% increase for corduroy jackets. One of the style staples of this quirky, new aesthetic are chunky-knit cardigans – and on Stylight we’ve seen demand increase by 25%!

The aesthetic has also become popular because of it’s gender inclusivity – with many of the staples and looks being gender neutral. On Google, searches for the new aesthetic have increased by 442%. Some of our favorite grandpa looks are coming from celebs like Tyler the Creator, Gigi Hadid, and Emma Chamberlain.
