Fight the Winter Blues In a Cozy Pink Coat

Fight the Winter Blues In a Cozy Pink Coat

Feel bummed when the temperature drops? You’re not alone. Seasonal Affective Disorder (appropriately abbreviated as SAD) affects millions of people around the world. The early sunsets, frigid temperatures and overall gloom of winter never seem to end, but still we march on, swaddling ourselves in layers of clothing and the same dark coat every day as we trudge out into the world.

Winter dressing doesn’t have to be a downer. A pink coat brings a sunny, sweet touch to your morning routine that might actually make you want to go outside.

Dark Mornings

There’s nothing quite so disheartening about waking up at your usual time and realizing that the sun hasn’t yet risen. It still feels like night, so why can’t you keep on sleeping? Unfortunately, duty calls, and you drag yourself out of bed to get dressed for work, piling on tights, skinny pants, a long-sleeved tee and a turtleneck sweater all in black for a warm yet slimming look. You’ve been wearing that exact outfit for months, but topping it off with an ice cream pink coat makes it all worthwhile. Watching the sun rise will feel almost sweet when your coat matches the sky.

Bitter Cold

There are some days when no matter what you’re wearing, the cold wind just rips straight through to your bones. Those are the days when dressing for warmth is of utmost importance, but don’t let that stop you from looking dramatic and fabulous. Your coat is the most important piece, and the most visually effective, so go for a rosy shearling jacket over a cashmere knitted sweater dress and fleece-lined tights.

Drab Skin

Cracking lips, sallow skin and brittle hair are all the victims of bitter winter. It seems no matter how much moisturizer, lotion, lip balm and luminizer you swipe on, you still look drained. Perk up a pallid complexion by donning a peachy-pink boyfriend coat that flatters every skin tone. Layer a white sweater, light gray scarf and boyfriend jeans underneath and you’ll look positively radiant.

Gloomy Streets

When winter hits, it seems like everyone in the city disappears into a dreary black coat that doesn’t come off until the first bloom. When you wear a pink coat out and about, you’re not just standing out and giving yourself a reason to smile, you’re giving your fellow sufferers a boost, too. Think of wearing a pink coat like public service—being walking inspiration is always a worthy pursuit.

Even if the weather makes you want to cry, a pink coat can lift you out of the doldrums. Suddenly your outlook seems a little rosier.

Don’t get SAD—get a pink coat.
