In the spotlight: Wall spotlights and their effect

Wall spotlights not only give interesting lighting, they highlight pictures and other decorative objects through systematic use. The swiveling lights which are mounted on the wall can be used individually as spotlights or several of them as basic illumination.

Wooden

  • Effect: Wooden wall lights bring nature into the house and provide a warm and indirect light. You can emphasize different styles from puristic to rustic. Depending on the design, the wood is used all over or as panels.
  • Maintenance: Dusting regularly with a dry piece of cloth is sufficient. In order for the surface to retain its shine, you should polish it every now and then.
  • Extra tip: Wall spotlights with a swiveling arm can be positioned specifically and are ideal as reading lights above the sofa. Decorative lamps emit indirect light and serve the purpose of lighting the room.

Made of metal

  • Effect: Whether it’s copper, brass or chrome – lamps made of metal have one thing in common. They appear classy and timeless due to their brilliance. Use them sparingly as an emphasis so that it doesn’t become trashy.
  • Maintenance: Metal is sturdy and easy to maintain but with time it can get tarnished. A paste made of vinegar, flour and salt can be used to wipe the lamps every now and then.
  • Extra tip: Bright picture lights highlight photographs and paintings brilliantly and are more than just decorative.

Made of glass

  • Effect: Whether it’s indirectly with sandblasted glass, colored with stained glass or through clear crystal glass which fascinatingly refracts light – numerous effects can be achieved with glass lighting.
  • Maintenance: Glass is sturdy, easy to maintain and does not rust. Glass shades and crystals can be cleaned using water and soap. Use a microfiber piece of cloth to polish them to get rid of streaks.
  • Extra tip: Lights made of acrylic glass look fascinating. Due to the intensive light refraction on the cut edges, you’d think that they are glowing.

Whether they are used practically or decoratively: Wall spotlights create an unmistakable shadow and light effect with their light which is thrown against the wall.
