Stools are seen as uncomfortable and are only used for short rests. But some stools are real luxury models: high or low, padded or swivel. Stylight has carefully examined the price and appearance of four stools.
1. The excellent barstool
- Appearance: Base with swivel action made of chrome or glossy metal, handle for adjusting pedestal height, practical footrest, short backrest and seat of padded (synthetic) leather. We have barstools in classy black or with seat covers in bold bright colors like pink, red or green.
- Suits: all kinds of bar or counter equipment in the kitchen, decorative stand-alone bars in the living room, or the raised folding wall table in the breakfast nook.
- Price: from about USD 100 to USD 250
2. The soft Ottoman stool
- Appearance: matching versions for armchairs and sofas made from fabric, leather or mixed materials. The bases are decorative or minimalistic. The seat gives enough room to really sit down, but is low to the ground. Soft upholstery without that sinking feeling.
- Suits: The Ottoman stool is particularly decorative and looks very good with lounge suites, low coffee tables, in the entryway, in front of the bedroom armchair and on fluffy rugs next to the fireplace.
- Price: Basic models from USD 50, top of the range from USD 250
3. The elegant vanity stool:
- Appearance: Decoratively curved wooden legs and framework with baroque elements, padded seats in romantic fabrics or with elegant patterns. Lightweight so they’re easy to move around. The seats are generally rectangular in shape. Medium sitting height.
- Suits: vanity tables, solo in a large bathroom, in the dressing room or in walk-in wardrobes
- Price: between USD 40 and USD 150
4. The comfortable garden stool
- Appearance: Weatherproof plastic weave, rattan or wicker. The rugged seat is fitted with a removable seat cushion. Available in neutral colors like ecru or gray.
- Suits: on the terrace, under the arbor or in the front yard next to the door. Despite its rustic appearance it can harmonize with fancier outdoor furniture or act as a footstool for garden armchairs.
- Price: from $50 for smaller stools, to USD 300 for XL models.
Stools are appealing because of their practical size, attractive look and low price compared to other seating furniture. If on top of that the stool is comfortable, then you know you’ve been shopping well.
