What type of sneaker sock wearer are you?

Sneaker socks are just as comfortable as the sneakers they’re intended for. Made from thin fabric and sitting no higher than just below the ankle, they are available in countless different colors and designs – which is why it’s so difficult to decide which ones to choose. So what type of sneaker socks work best for you and your shoe?

  • The sporty type and the sporty sneaker:

The sneakers are casual and colorful, featuring a sporty cut. And you’re the athletic type, who feels most at home in jeans and a T-shirt.
These sneaker socks go well: It’s fine to mix colors. Go for plain-colored socks or ones with a horizontal stripe, star, cartoon or lego pattern. With this look, the sneaker socks can be left peeking out of the shoe to blend in with the flamboyant sneakers.

  • The minimalist and the simple sneaker:

The sneakers are simple – featuring plain neutral colors, smooth material, a geometric pattern, ultra-modern design, clean cut – and can even pass as work shoes. You like to wear these sneakers with straight-cut pants or a plain skirt, minimalist blouses and shirts, straight shirts and understated real jewelry.
These sneaker socks go well: plain-colored socks in white, black or marine, preferably in the same color as the shoes or in black and white contrast. Loud logos are best avoided. Organic cotton and a shaped toe area underline your quality consciousness. But beware: The shoe dye mustn’t rub off, especially if the sneaker socks are white.

  • The classic type and the designer sneaker:

The sneaker qualifies as designer wear, featuring logo patterns or elaborate branding, classic tones or a color contrast design, and prominent lacing or fasteners. The ladies’ version is embellished with bling, while the men’s is made from exotic materials. You can complete the look with chinos, pleated trousers, suits or little black dresses, Marlene pants, classic blouses or boucle jackets.
These sneaker socks go well: classic checked patterns in Burlington style, shades of brown, black, or colors such as green, pale pink, lemon and marine. In this case, it’s fine to show off the logo. Silk blends or Egyptian cotton look flattering on a freshly pedicured foot.

Sneaker socks come in a variety of styles to go with normal shoes as well as sports shoes. Sneaker socks of the latter variety are somewhat thicker and provide greater support for the foot. They are generally too thick and too warm for wearing with normal shoes, but are better at drawing perspiration away from the foot. When choosing sneaker socks, you should always bear in mind the time of year.
