Stay Crisp and Clean in Your White Shirt
A white shirt can be your favorite piece of clothing or your worst nightmare. Pair it with any bottom and you’re set for the day, but if you end up with a stain, you’re ready to hide away.
It takes a lot of work to keep white shirts in shape. Here’s your dose of do’s and don’ts to keep in mind when wearing a white shirt.
Do: For the clean look this piece calls for, iron your collar, cuffs and both the inside and outside of your white shirt. Ensure that no corner has been left unturned to leave you looking sharp and freshly pressed.
Don’t: When it comes to storing your white shirt, don’t shove them away in a drawer. You’ll have twice as much ironing to do the next time you wear it, along with a crushed collar. Always hang your white shirts on a wooden or heavy plastic hanger.
Do: If you have a food or drink spill, immediately soak the shirt in lukewarm water and add detergent. Finish the job by washing your white shirt in warm water.
Don’t: Never wipe stains with a dirty or colored rag. The unclean cloth can make the stain worse and a heavily dyed rag can leave an unwanted hue on your shirt.
Do: Fight pit stains by first soaking your white shirt in a bowl of vinegar and water. After twenty minutes, remove the shirt from the bowl and add a ½ cup of baking soda, a tablespoon of salt and tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to the discolored armpit area. Gently scrub to bring the bright look back to your white shirt.
Don’t let your shirt suffer from devastating stains and unruly wrinkles. Keep these rules in mind and you’ll always look crisp and clean.
