Miss Sixty

Believe it or not, the Miss Sixty brand is 22 years old this year. Created in 1991 by Wicky Hassan and Renato Rossi, the brand has gone from strength to strength, focussing on creating clothes that are undeniably feminine but still rock an edgy, cool attitude that has made them popular with women across the world. But what is it that sets the brand apart from its rivals?

First feminine denim

According to the Miss Sixty online shop, the brand developed the “very first Feminine Fashion Denim, ever.” While other companies such as G-Star were trying to perfect the unisex look that blazed through the 1990s, Miss Sixty was focussed on developing fashion purely for women. They took materials that were once monopolised by men and gave them colourful and creative twists that put them very definitely in the girl’s camp.

A celebrity must-have

And, while Esprit was creating floral, floaty creations, Miss Sixty was busy putting the attitude back into female fashion. The Miss Sixty online shop relates that their denim jackets quickly became a must-have, worn by models and celebrities such as Cameron Diaz and Britney Spears. The global flame was lit and Miss Sixty was soon rivalling other fashion giants, such as Diesel.

Putting the fun into fashion

Miss Sixty isn’t afraid to put the fun back into fashion. You’ll often find t-shirts and jackets emblazoned with bold colours and fun, innovative designs. While many of the clothes are created for daily, casual wear, most of the clothes can be incorporated into a more formal ensemble, adding a touch of devil-may-care attitude.
