The French jewelry brands you need to know about

There’s no denying it: we love French girl style. We’ve spent years analyzing and demystifying the women that have inspired countless Pinterest boards and introduced us to some of the world’s most iconic brands. Our affinity with French style extends directly to their jewelry boxes. Delicate gold necklaces and layered earrings, vintage cocktail rings, and luxurious investment bracelets. You name it, nous sommes à bord.

The French girl aesthetic exudes a cool glamour. French women are known for mixing well-made pieces with one-off finds and focussing on quality rather than quantity when building their capsule wardrobes.

And while the world is well aware of some of their larger sartorial exports, we think that these lesser-known French jewelry brands deserve their share of the spotlight. We don’t know, there’s just a certain je ne sais quoi about these indie French designers.

Designed by Rosh Mahtani and inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, each Alighieri piece represents one of the poet’s 100 poems. And while Mahtani is a London-based designer, her brand was born from the literature she studied at Oxford University where she studied French and Italian.

After the birth of his daughter, Gigi, Alain Clozeau was inspired to create the most marvellous piece of jewelry; made of 18 carats gold and rainbow-colored pearls of resin… and that’s how Gigi Clozeau the brand was born.
