When “The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow” premiered on Netflix last year, the show, as with most Gwyneth Paltrow wellness-base phenomenons, caused quite a stir.

Aside from the obvious questions/comments/concerns the show’s content may have inspired also came the inevitable thought that comes with any goop-related conversation: who would buy any of these things?

Launched back in 2008, ‘Goop’ has become infamous for its absurd, extravagant, and over-the-top expensive product recommendations. Gwyneth’s lifestyle website has touted the benefits of an $80 rose quartz water bottle, a $150 vibrator necklace, and 18K gold dumbbells worth a staggering $125,000.

Partnering with Netflix, Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop team launched a six-episode series, “guiding the deeply inquisitive viewer in an exploration of boundary-pushing wellness topics, including psychedelics, cold therapy, female pleasure, anti-ageing, energy healing and psychics.”

More than a year after its release date, the series still sparks controversy with a ratio of 3,000 likes to 34,000 dislikes on its YouTube trailer.
