And while we’ll happily wear the year-round accessory like a stylish anti-aging tool, there is one thing that gives us a hat-related pause: how to style your hair with hats.

The messy side sweep. Keep things textured and natural for this one, by using a spritz of sea salt spray then finger-combing your hair to one side. Easy.
The fishtail plait - this style is perfect for keeping hair smooth under a hat. Pull hair to one side and fish tail it to the bottom. Here's how.
The up-do plait - if your hat sits higher on your head then this is the perfect style. Separate hair into two sections and plait. Then, wind each plait into an S-shape at the back of the head and pin into place. Finish with hairspray.
The oversize bun - a more low-maintenace version of the up-do plait, this look is created by putting your hair into a low bun, then pulling sections outwards to add volume. Wind a spare section of hair around the bun to cover the hair-tie.
The hippy waves - boho hats need a boho hairstyle. Plait your hair the night before to add subtle waves, then plait small random sections of hair and secure with a clear band. Peace out.
