Inspired by Linda Evangelista’s signature hairdo, the soft crop is a “gentle, almost grown-out interpretation of a timeless, classic crop,” London-based hairstylist Francesca Inverarity explained to Vogue editor Hannah Coates.

The cut’s soft edges mean that it can be adapted to fit any face shape and texture, as well as allowing for a myriad of styling options: according to Inverarity, “leaving the hair longer at the edges means it can be tucked behind the ear, which softens the style around the eye line,” while, “keeping the hair slightly longer with a grown-out feel at the back creates a more gentle effect on the neckline.”
