Wool, denim and down are just a few of the materials used in the vast range of cloths and linings. You’ll find the cuts just as diverse as the colors and fabrics: from straight lines for sporty types, to waisted A-lines for those desiring a touch of elegance. • Boxy Long Coats
Straight cuts and clear lines are cool and casual, and like their wearers, they always seem ready for adventure. The new models mostly have one row of buttons and are often worn open. Accessories are therefore all the more important. Men look best when they combine their boxy long coat with lace-up boots and a knitted beanie, while women should opt for mid heels and XXL scarves.
• A-line long coats
Those who like the tapered look are making the right choice with an A-line coat. These smart overcoats are especially appropriate for wearing over suits, and are just perfect for the office. Wear yours with ankle boots and a fake fur scarf to give the office look a dramatic touch. Men can enhance their office ensemble with beanies and cable knit sweaters.
• Asymmetrical long coats
Are you looking for just a little more flamboyance? Then grab yourself a coat with a cowl neck, V-neck or asymmetrical sides. These stylish coats give every outfit a unique edge. As the cut is wide, you would do better going for tighter clothes underneath. Plain T-shirts, destroyed look skinny jeans and flat shoes are always a safe bet.
• Trench coat style
A real fashion all rounder is the trench coat, which essentially looks good on every man and woman. This is largely because of the waist belt that accentuates the female physique and subtly masks those small problem areas. Men, on the other hand, have less of a need for this and can thus safely wear trench coat styles without a belt.
Long coats can be worn during every season. While padded jackets, or woolen or felt styles are typical staples for winter, the trench coat is a popular overcoat for fall or spring. It blocks out the wind and rain, but remains light-weight. In summer, cardigans and denim jackets are ideal for those cooler nights.
