Globe

Globe is the brainchild of Peter and Stephen Hill, two hardcore skateboarders from Australia. In creating Globe, the Hills answered the demand for functional stylish skate wear that allowed amateurs and professionals alike to align themselves to a lifestyle choice, simply through the clothes they wore.

A desire for the best

Peter and Stephen were no slouches when it came to boarding. By the mid 1980s they’d both achieved professional status. However, they were unhappy with the standard of products designed for the skating and snowboarding community that were on sale in Australia, so they first went into business importing better quality products from the USA, including brands such as Adidas.

Launching a lifestyle

Through a media-savvy marketing campaign, the Globe founders became the driving force behind the skateboarding explosion in Australia, promoting groundbreaking brands such as Mjus. Constant research told the Hills what they felt was missing from skater footwear, and in 1994 Globe was launched. Take a look at Stylight’s Globe online shop and you’ll see what a great range of footwear and clothing they developed.

An international brand

While competitors such as Just Cavalli were focussing on footwear with a broad appeal, Globe stuck to their boards and continued to expand their range of sneakers and skater apparel. Their patience was rewarded with a second skateboarding explosion and a renewed demand for stylish, durable footwear and clothing. In addition, the clothing was embraced by the fashion world and Globe was established as an international brand.
