Black Friday & Cyber Monday 2022: here’s all you need to know
Black Friday is revered as the busiest shopping day of the year, and notably the best time for shoppers to enjoy incredible deals and discounts, and secure their wishlist items at a bargain. It is also considered by retailers as the opening day of the holiday shopping season.
The origin of the expression “Black Friday” is quite fuzzy, although many believe it stems from bookkeeping practices, where profits are usually marked in black ink on financial records (vs losses, marked in red). The idea is that Black Friday marks the beginning of the period when retailers finally start taking in profits, in contrast with the remaining rest of the year, when they are actually operating at a loss.When is Black Friday and when do the deals start? Black Friday falls on the fourth friday of November each year, which also coincides with the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. To take advantage of the fact that most shoppers are on holiday for the long weekend, stores have started offering deals already in the early hours of Friday night or Thursday evening. Many retailers have also started pushing deals at the start of the same week, also known as Black Week, and offering count-down discounts that lead up to Friday as main sales day.
Which are the brands with the most attractive deals? Shoppers go crazy for retailers like Amazon and Best Buy, but also Target and Walmart. This year, some retailers are even getting ahead and offering deals prior to Black Friday! On the fashion front, shops that are known for the best Black Friday deals include Nordstrom, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Coach. On Stylight, the most wanted brands included Gucci, Nike and Versace, Off-White, and Calvin Klein.
