From functional to decorative: Benches for every room
Take a seat to tie your shoes or sit pretty for a long lunch with the ladies. Once you’ve decided to add a bench to your home, we predict it will be heavily used. So it should match your style and home design. Discover the different styles of benches that fit into every room.
Functional benches
Benches in the hallway help when you’re getting dressed. If your home has a narrow hall, we recommend our slender wooden benches to perfectly fit the space. And your boots, sneakers, and flats fit right underneath!
Tip: Storage benches offer space to store your goodies inside and a place to sit up top. They look great in your dressing room, especially with a pretty fabric cover. Wooden benches are perfect for storing towels or beauty products in the bathroom.
Decorative benches
Vintage or baroque style benches with romantic trimmings are extremely pretty in the bedroom. There, styles with velvet covers look great, too.
Tip: Free-standing benches without backrest are expecially nice in large spaces, in particular if they have a brightly colored cover or varnish, to offset the rest of the furnishings.
Corner benches
For small kitchens or dining rooms, benches are a space-saving alternative to chairs. Corner benches can be incorporated into almost any room. These space-savers are comfortable and sightly, especially if they’re made of wood.
Benches for your garden and balcony
Slender benches made of metal or treated wood fit even the smallest balcony. Pick a bench with a comfy backrest and matching bistro table, if you have a bit more space. White wooden benches with backrests and cushions are the perfect backdrop for warm evenings on your terrace. These benches also look great free-standing in your garden, maybe by a little pond or fireplace.
Depending on its purpose and location, you might opt for a bench with a backrest. The backrest makes the bench more comfortable, especially if it’s placed away from the wall. No backrest is needed if the bench is set at a wall or only used briefly, for instance to tie your shoes.
