Aigle

Aigle means eagle in French, and this French-based company have long been high fliers in the rugged and testing world of outdoor clothing. Many other well-regarded companies operate in this competitive and lucrative market but few can rival Aigle for their ancestry and sheer experience.

Aigle across the ages

We have to go all the way back to 1853 with the establishment of the Flexible Rubber Company in France by an American who manufactured the newly invented rubber welly boot. During the 1900s, the company diversified into raincoats, car accessories and sports shoes, becoming renamed as Aigle en route. By the 21st century, Aigle was firmly established for its high-quality footwear and outdoor clothing, particularly wet weather protective clothing for sailors.

Aigle, Aigle everywhere

Currently, the company is Swiss owned and there are 131 Aigle stores worldwide with most marinas probably having sailors clomping around in their Aigle gear! If anyone needs to be protected from the wet then it is surely those inshore and offshore sailors who face the wildest environment on Earth: the sea.

Are wellies really fashionable?

Fashion is not restricted to the city’s paved streets but is alive and kicking out in the countryside as well as on the high seas. The key difference is that the appearance of outdoor apparel has to be backed up by a greater dose of practicality. High heels have no place on the deck of a boat or out in the fields. This is where Aigle scores over much of the competition like Högl because their gear not only looks good, but it also lasts for a long time and does exactly what it says by keeping you dry and warm.

Aigle near you

One of the great things about the digital age is that you can search for and buy products without leaving the comfort of your own home. The Aigle online shop can be searched through using Stylight, where you can also look at alternative brands like Neosens or go for something a little more ocean orientated from Rip Curl. If you’re looking for high end fashion then check out Betty London, but no matter what type of footwear you’re after you’ll find it here at Stylight.
