The Art of Washing A.P.C Jeans
After 25 years of radicalizing the denim world, Parisian label A.P.C. (Atelier de Production et de Création) is still making waves with its renowned raw denim. Coveted by everyone from jeans junkies to modern day minimalists for both their fine craftsmanship and timeless style, A.P.C jeans aren’t just your average dungarees.
Whether you’re a die-hard denimhead or just a fan of the label, one thing’s for certain: you should think twice before traditionally washing your A.P.C. jeans. Here we’ll show you four easy recipes for rinsing your denim.
The Extremists:
Let your jeans get as dirty as you want for as long as possible, and let your first wash be a trip to the dry cleaner. The following washes should go like this: soak your jeans for about an hour in water with a little Woolite black added. Then rinse, roll in a terrycloth towel and hang up to dry.
The Semi-Extremists:
Soak your jeans for about an hour in water with Woolite black added but make sure not to scrub them. Finish by rinsing, wringing and hanging your jeans up so that all the water is removed.
The Swimmers:
Like the extremist, you should let your jeans get dirty as long as possible, and then head to your nearest beach. Go swimming in the ocean wearing your jeans and rub them with dry sand several times. For a final rinse, wash them off in fresh (not salt) water and let them dry naturally in the sun.
The Sleepers:
You can choose to believe the myth or not, but true denimheads skip the spin cycle and head to sleep–in their jeans. Not only will you get authentic-looking honeycombs on the back of the knees and natural whiskering in the front, your jeans will start to mold to the shape of your body, achieving the most perfect fit possible.
