Scalp-care is the new skincare

25% INCREASE IN SEARCHES FOR “SCALP MASSAGER” ON GOOGLE
128% INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR “BAMBOO BRUSH” ON STYLIGHT

We’ve heard a lot about skincare over the last few years, but now it looks like beauty is moving into new territory. Scalp-care has been taking over TikTok and influencers are predicting that in 2023 we’re going to be focusing more on healthy hair growth. And since healthy hair starts at the roots, some of the top tips include using a bamboo brush to help stimulate blood flow and improve circulation which can help with hair growth. Scalp massagers are also growing in popularity to help exfoliate and help to distribute hair product evenly. TikTokers have been showing their hair growth journeys on the channel with #scalpcare already reaching 515.5 million views.

Normalizing pimple patches

127% INCREASE IN SEARCHES FOR “STARFACE PIMPLE PATCHES” ON GOOGLE

Beauty trend forecasters are predicting that in 2023 we will see pimple patches in public. We are beginning to see pimple patches in fun, whimsical shapes instead of the standard, round, beige patches. TikTokers are filming themselves wearing the pimple patches – no longer shying away from the fact that they have breakouts. Star-shaped patches from the aptly named brand, StarFace, are popping up everywhere, normalizing the fact that people aren’t always perfect or flawless and we shouldn’t be ashamed of the skin we live in.

Lip oils are the new lip gloss

114% INCREASE IN SEARCHES FOR “LIP OIL” ON GOOGLE

68% INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR THE BRAND CLARINS ON STYLIGHT

Move over lip gloss and lipstick-lip oils are hot on TikTok! Moisturizing and nourishing, along with a sheer color that compliments one’s natural lip color, it’s easy to see why lip oils have become so popular on TikTok. Searches on Google for “lip oil” have increased by 114% over the past year. The Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil made its mark this summer, but since then MUA”s and beauty influencers have been introducing “dupes” that are better than the supposedly over-hyped product. The most popular being Clarins Lip Comfort Oil (which comes in 8 different shades), which has TikTokers raving about its perfect “no make-up” make-up look.

Now look I’m not above spending $38 for an aesthetic clear oil moment BUT this dior lip oil was so hyped I was expecting like super high quality but it’s just clear and kind of minty? 🥹 #diorlipoil #diorlipoildupe #lipoil #honestopinion

“Cold Girl Make-up”

52% INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR CREME BLUSH ON STYLIGHT

TikTok is paying homage to the fact that temperatures are dropping in many places around the world – say hello to “Cold Girl Make-up”. We already had “Sad Girl Make-up” and even “Angry Girl Make-up”, so it’s not surprising that this new aesthetic is making its rounds on TikTok. The look is accomplished by blending a creamy blush across the cheeks and tip of the nose to replicate that “just came in from the cold” look. The #coldgirlmakeup already has 47.5 million views, likely due to the fact that it’s easy to do and is more of a practical day-to-day look than the “Sad Girl” or “Angry Girl” make-up.

TikTok is often the place where many nail trends are born and as the holiday party season approaches we’ve seen velvet nails gain popularity on the platform. The velvety effect is created using magnetic nail polish – basically tiny metal shavings within the nail polish can be pulled into different patterns and designs using a magnet, resulting in an often velvety looking finish. With over 25 million views for #velvetnails already, it’s clear that this trend is going strong for the winter season. On Stylight demand for magnetic nail polishes have increased by 600% over the past month!
