Pop-Punk has returned! This is the latest Y2K fashion trend to make a comeback – thanks to the revival of the music genre from artists like Willow, Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne, and newcomer Olivia Rodrigo.  Leaving behind the summery florals and pastel colors, the moody aesthetic is comprised of plaid pieces, band t-shirts, and a color palette that has edge, punch, and boldness. While it has been gaining popularity on TikTok, it has also been seen on designer runways. Chanel’s 2021/2022 Resort collection featured fishnet tights combined with preppy plaid prints and models styled with punk-inspired hair and dark, smudged eye liner. At Stylight, we have already seen this trend start to take off, with the expectation that it will carry on into the autumn months as well. Since July, clicks have been increasing on a number of Pop-Punk staples*. There have been +48% more clicks on fishnets, it’s been popping up on shoes, tops, not to mention the classic tights. We’ve also seen +25% more clicks on knee-high combat boots, and +14% increase on studded belts. Plaid is also gaining popularity- either styled with a little bit of edge, like Willow Smith or a touch of prep (thanks Olivia Rodrigo). We’ve seen +17% more clicks on plaid pieces – pants, skirts, dresses, and even jumpsuits.

* Based on the number of clicks on Stylight in the month of July 2021 as compared to the previous month.
