We’ve seen the Retro-Galactica trend pop up for our glam New Year’s Eve looks, but we predict this trend will also carry on into 2022. Inspired by the futuristic space travel as well as vintage glam reminiscent of the 70’s and 80’s. Metallic color palettes have seen an increase in clicks of 122%. Fashion influencers like Darja Barannick, Leoni Hanne, and Camille Charriere have been spotted wearing glittery pieces of silver and gold, proving that it’s not just a look for New Year’s.
We’ve also seen an increase in clicks for tights with glitter and gem details, just like the ones wore by Zendaya at the recent Spiderman movie premiere. For footwear, we’ve seen shoes that are giving us “cosmo-girl” vibes – inspired by the original space-barbie Jane Fonda in the iconic film Barbarella. White to-the-knee boots and platform heels are making their move, and clicks have increased by +88% and +105%.
The trend hasn’t stopped at apparel, we’ve also seen the quickly growing trend of gem and rhinestone stickers for the face. From delicate, strategic placement on the corners of the eyes or highlighting the brown bone to completely “out of this world” looks, the keyword “face gem” has seen a 900% increase in searches compared to last year.
We have analysed clicks on individual products on Stylight for the period 1-25 November 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. The data is also based on Google Trends figures, beginning November 2021 compared to the same periods in 2020.
