Most wanted accessories for Summer 2023

Summer 2023 ushers in a vibrant array of accessory trends that are sure to get people talking. We analyzed our users’ online shopping behavior to come up with a list of the most wanted accessories: from crochet items to 3D roses to canvas bags, this season’s accessories celebrate boldness and individuality.

1. Raffia bags

One of the trends that have made it from the beach to the city this year are stylish raffia bags, aka straw bags. Preferably in an XL size. We love them because not only are they functional, but they add a natural touch to our outfits. Most raffia bags are woven from raffia grass, a sustainable material extracted from the leaves of the raffia palm. Some of the most hyped models are coming from brands like Loewe, Longchamp or Tod’s. On Stylight, the demand this year for straw bags is 18x higher compared to last year.

2. Crochet bucket hats

This stylish accessory combines vintage charm with a touch of boho aesthetic. Whether from Prada, Fendi, Gucci, from the flea market or even handmade – this year the ultimate sunbathing accessory is the crochet bucket hat.The brightly colored accessory is one of the it-pieces of the season so no wonder that the demand for crochet bucket hats on Stylight is 13x higher than last year.

3. Crochet dresses

One of the biggest comebacks from the 70s this year is the crochet dress, and stars like Alessandra Ambrosio are proving that it’s just as hot in 2023. So it’s no wonder that searches on Google for crochet dresses have increased by 24% since last month, as they are the epitome of the perfect vacation companion. Whether at the beach/pool during the day or at the restaurant in the evening, it’s versatile, chic, and trendy all tied (or crocheted) into one.

4. 3D rose details

The summer of 2023 has seen a captivating trend that embraces the beauty of nature through rose details. We’re not talking about floral prints, but 3D roses that complement clothing and accessories. A symbol of romance, femininity and grace, these roses add a touch of whimsy and elegance to summer wardrobes. Whether adorning flowing dresses, lightweight blouses or accessories such as handbags and necklaces, these captivating designs evoke a sense of enchantment and add a touch of glamour to any outfit. The appeal of these 3D roses is transcending traditional expectations this summer, making them a very strong trend of the year: on Google, search interest for the keyword “rose details” increased by 15% over last year, and by 52% for the keyword “rose detailed dress.”

5. Oversized sunglasses

In 2023, oversized sunglasses are back in the spotlight! Evoking a sense of glamour and sophistication, these glasses are making a comeback in the collections of top brands like Dior, Gucci, and Prada. With their exaggerated frames, oversized sunglasses effortlessly combine retro charm with contemporary flair: from classic black frames to vibrant patterns and futuristic designs, these sunglasses are currently experiencing a spike in interest and traffic: we’ve seen an 81% increase in clicks for this category on Stylight.

6. Elevated flip-flops 

While this piece of footwear might seem a little bit basic, the flip flop has made it on to our list of summer essentials for good reason. While practical for the beach or the pool, we’re also seeing it in more elevated version (a low heel, in leather, or with multiple straps). And if you don’t believe us, just ask Jennifer Lawrence – who just debuted the shoe at Cannes. We’ve also seen a 23% increase in demand for this style of shoe on Stylight.

7. Canvas bags

Leather might be the usual go-to material for your bags, but this summer we’re turning to a new fabric. The perfect beach bag, the canvas bag is sturdy and durable. There are versions of the canvas bag across a wide range of designers and brands – from the classic L.L Bean canvas totes to the beautiful luxury canvas bags from Saint Laurent – there is something for every price point. And canvas doesn’t always mean tote bag – we’re seeing the fabric turn up on hobos, clutches, and shoulder bags. On Stylight, we’ve seen demand for canvas bags increase by 70% in the last year.

8. Baseball caps

You don’t need to be into baseball to wear a baseball cap – and thank goodness, because this year it’s one of the most wanted accessories for summer. From the iconic NY Yankees models to the high-fashion designs from Vetements, Celine, or Gucci, this accessory fits perfectly with almost every outfit. Not only will it shield your face from the sun, it can also give your outfit that bit of extra oomph it needs. So it’s no surprise that on Stylight we saw a 28% increase for baseball caps compared to last year.

9. Tinted sunglasses

Last, but certainly not least on our list of must-have accessories for a stylish hot summer: tinted sunglasses! If you want to go for a bold look, then try a pair of these on! We’re seeing this eyewear trend in a variety of colors, like pink (hello 2000’s Paris Hilton), green, blue, and orange. On Stylight we’ve already seen an 87% increase in demand for tinted sunglasses compared to last year – because everything looks better through rose-colored glasses.
