They are smart enough to wear to the office thanks to their rustic appearance, but also appropriate for leisure time. What are we talking about? Wingtips. These traditional men’s dress shoes have crept into women’s fashion and enhance elegant business outfits as well as casual street styles. Whether they have platform soles, gold embellishments or a shiny gloss, wingtips for women come in the widest range of styles. With these three looks, the shoes maintain their masculine touch, but nevertheless highlight your feminine qualities.
1. Wingtips with jeans
The sturdy shape of wingtips for women is softened by a pair of sexy skinny jeans, because nothing shows off womanly curves as nicely as this narrow cut denim style. To make your legs appear longer, go for 7/8-length jeans that stop just above the ankle. Don’t forget: stay away from socks or stockings! A polka dot blouse and a crew neck sweater go wonderfully on top. In summer, a sleeveless pussybow blouse will keep you cool.
2. Wingtips with a sexy mini skirt
Wingtips don’t just go with pants – they look just as great with skirts. An ultra-short plisse skirt can be worn with knee-high stockings and suspenders: very seductive! To avoiding showing too much skin, you should try to stay rather covered up on top. A long sleeve blouse with a pattern inspired by your favorite culture creates a leisure time outfit. A cognac-colored crossbody bag will round off the look.
3. Wingtips with a business outfit
Are shiny metallic wingtips in gold or silver too much for your leisure time activities? Then show them off in the office with black 7/8-length skinny pants and a black blouse. Distinguishing wingtips from Oxford shoes or Brogues is sometimes difficult even for veteran shoe-lovers. Full Brogues in a derby cut are often called wingtips. However, Brogues are somewhat narrower and the toe of the shoe has a traditionally rounded, inclined shape. Oxford shoes are treasured for their smooth, shiny leather. Due to their closed lacing they look as if they were made in a mold.
No one seems to be able to agree on where wingtips come from, the French and German name for them is “Budapesters” but in Budapest, Hungary they use a word referencing Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
