Michael Jackson: the King of Pop, but for his fans and many critics alike, he was also the King of Style. Michael’s very particular sense of style was clear right from the start of his career, setting him apart from his peers and cementing him as a fashion leader not a follower. Throughout his career he popularized many fashion items, making them synonymous with his look and style. June 25th will mark the fifth anniversary of Jackson’s death and as a tribute to his iconic style we have compiled his 10 Ultimate Fashion Trademarks, and included some fun, interesting facts about each one. Do You Remember The Time…
At the Motown 25 event in 1983, Michael performed his hit ‘Billie Jean’. During the performance Jackson debuted perhaps his most famous move, the moonwalk, whilst wearing his now legendary single, white rhinestone glove. The performance was a roaring success, making the song and the look instantly legendary.
Did you know? During the performance Michael threw his spangled black jacket to a fan in the audience, however someone stole the jacket from them. Seeing what had happened, Michael asked his bodyguards to retrieve the jacket and later returned it to the lucky fan backstage – what a guy!
Slave to the Rhythm
The 2014 Billboard Awards briefly brought the magic of Michael back to life. With an incredible hologram performance of ‘Slave to the Rhythm’ from his posthumous album, Xscape. Fans could once again enjoy an incredible performance to rival those the King of Pop was famous for.
